About Me

My Photo
I'm not your average Caucasian girl. I love culture, especially Chinese culture. I'll mainly write about my life, and my struggles with love.

We are all human

I am trying my best to live by this certain phrase or concept I believe in, which I made up.
No matter the color of one's skin, no matter what one looks like, what country they come from, the language they speak, their cultural background, their beliefs in religion or political...we are all homo sapiens, all human, all the same despite these differences.

Even though I am mainly attracted to Chinese culture, I do love all people of every background. I accept those who feel unaccepted because of their color of their skin, or just who they are.

This is why sometimes I don't understand humans, I don't understand people. I took sociology last trimester, but in all honesty, I don't think I learned much.

It's just that, for thousands of years, humans had fought against another because of what they look like, or their belief in a different religion than one's own.

I can't personally stop this, because we have free-will. But I just hope that some day, there will be peace and acceptance.

It's the last day of 2011

It's almost 3:00 am. And I can not sleep.
There are a lot of things that have happened this year. And many of those is hurting my heart right now.
I hope to forget a lot of things, and start anew.

I really like Chinese New Year better than Western New Year. Not hating, just love the cultural things.

I'm a Hu now...good-bye Tang...

So, the story of this post.
Last week, I get a text message notification from my facebook during 4th period. And it said that Bowen Hu posted on my wall.
Need to remind people this is my Chinese brother.
And his message was: “u should change ur chinese’s last name u know u need named hu.”
I busted a gut laughing in front of my German teacher. (My mentee for English mentorship wasn’t at school today, so I asked to go help with my German teacher.)
My interpretation: He wants me to change my Chinese last name to Hu, instead of having it as “Tang”. My Chinese name was Tang Jia Qi (唐佳期), now it’s Hu Jia Qi(胡佳期). haha. or written the western way, “Jia Qi Hu.”

By the way, Hu is pronounced like ‘who’, so it just sounds silly to me hehe.
So it’s official. We’re ‘tong bao xiong mei’ for life.

Hope

There is hope...that the misunderstandings will be done between myself, and the guy in China...
Last week, I talked on the phone, to his best friend, whom is residing in the USA for college. I was getting to a point of whether or not I knew what I should do.
So I sent his friend a text, and a half hour later he called me.
He told me, "I'll talk to him for you. Don't worry, things will be alright."

Yesterday, I texted my friend my dream about talking to the guy in China on Chinese chat. Then he replied saying, "He told me he has a lot to say. So I will try to call him sometime."

I worried of what the guy had to say.
and replied later, "Is he upset that I talked to you about him and I? That's the only thing I am worrying about right now."
"No no. He can't be upset just for that. Don't worry."

Sometimes I worry over the tiniest things...but this was something I worried about for a while.

I really hope the misunderstandings can be over now... and that I can smile.

哎呀我想微笑了。。。。。╭(╯^╰)╮

Birthdays

On Monday, it was my birthday....
Today is my younger sister's birthday.
Saturday is my older brother's...

The first week is always the craziest week for my family. 3 birthdays within one week... was not planned. My parents did not plan this, but I always think they did. haha.

But, anyways, I'm 18, my sister is 16 and my brother will be 23 on Saturday.
One of the best things on Monday was when my gege, Bowen, called me to wish me Happy Birthday. I practically told him on Friday night that it's my birthday soon, the following Monday. He didn't know my birthday, and I only remembered his.

He asked me, "What are you doing for your birthday?"
I replied, "Nothing at all, no party for me."
He laughed, "Haha, same for me for my birthday in June, no one celebrate with me."
"So, if I go to back to China with you next summer and I'm there when it's your birthday, I'll celebrate your birthday with you, okay?"
"Hehe, that sounds like a great plan."

I felt so bad for him over the summer. He went back to China to visit earlier than he did last year. So when it came for his birthday, he wanted to have a party, but very few friends came to celebrate with him.

But the year before, he arrived in China...on his birthday. So I don't remember if he did celebrate it because he was jet lagged.

Although, if I do return to China with him next summer. . . I really hope that I can celebrate my birthday with my best friend, my Chinese brother.

The Last Year

School started...
now I want summer.

That's all I can say.

I miss sleeping in, I miss staying awake really late, I miss being able to be free. Oh, well. I love school though.

Smiles

I have 6....soon to be 5 more days until school starts again for me. It's really silly, I'm so excited to see my friends and teachers, and also excited for my last year of high school. Senior year, will be the best year I had in my high school life. I am going to make it the best I've ever had.

Also, I miss someone, very much... he is a new friend of mine, and we e-mailed each other once this summer...
I'm just excited to get back to school and see him smile again. That is...if he ends up going to my school this year. He told me he was thinking of wanting to be home-schooled. I'll miss him terribly if he is.

I remember this funny memory between us. It was at school and it was during 2nd hour. I was walking on my way to the other side of the school to take a test. As I was walking through this hallway, I heard my name as a loud whisper, "Jia Qi!" I looked back and it was him.
"Hey! Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'm going to World Religions right now, what about you?"
"Well...I'm going to take an Algebra test. Wait, you should put your lanyard on before you get caught."
"Oh! Thanks for reminding me." We both stop and he goes into his backpack and pulls out a Totoro lanyard. If no one knows what Totoro is, you have to watch, "My Neighbor Totoro". He loves this movie, and I watched it because of him. I don't know why, but he's different from all the other boys I've known. Wearing a Totoro lanyard, with his ID safely tucked inside, it shows he's not afraid of what he likes. I like different people...

Though this year, I want to not think about boys and make year a wonderful year without drama.
